Data sources & coverage
Where Insight Lotto results come from, which historical records are available and how missing or conflicting lottery data is displayed.
Where do the results come from?
Our archive stores records collected from official Powerball, Mega Millions and participating lottery sources. A drawing's detail page links to the source recorded for its numbers and, when different, its jackpot. Prize rows also link to their sources. Start with Powerball or Mega Millions to verify current information.
Archive coverage
Mega Millions winning-number history begins May 17, 2002. Powerball history begins February 3, 2010. These are the starting points of this site's collected records, not the games' original launch dates. The results archives show the actual available records and dates.
Known early Mega Millions gaps
Detailed prize records in this archive begin February 2, 2010. Earlier drawings may have winning numbers and an annuity jackpot but no cash value, winner counts or prize-tier breakdown. Missing details do not invalidate the winning numbers.
The January 28, 2003 Mega Millions annuity amount remains unresolved and is not shown as a dollar value. A blank or “Not available” amount must not be read as $0, a losing ticket or proof of a rollover.
What “verified numbers” means
We publish completed drawings only when the stored number status is source-validated or cross-checked. Pending or conflicting number records are excluded from results and statistics. This status describes our source record checks; it is not a certification by a lottery authority.
Different kinds of missing information
“Not available” means the field has no usable reported value. “Unresolved amount” means recorded sources conflict. A reported count of zero is displayed as zero. A missing winner count remains missing. Prize coverage can be partial even when winning numbers are complete.
Freshness and scheduled drawings
This is not a live drawing feed. Drawing pages display the recorded update time. Pages may briefly reuse recently loaded records. We do not promise a fixed refresh or collection schedule. Future jackpot cards appear only for recorded scheduled drawings whose draw time has not passed. After that time, we wait for verified winning numbers.
Payout interpretation
Jackpots are total advertised annuity or cash figures, not a per-ticket payment. “Winning tickets” is not the number of individual people. Option amounts already include their multiplier. Prize rules can vary by jurisdiction, including California; consult the official source. Prize options are listed separately and should not be added together to estimate total payouts.
